Banners and standards hold significant meaning in Biblical tradition. In Scripture, they represent God's presence and protection. As we can read, “His banner over me is love” (Song of Solomon 2:4) and “We will rejoice in thy salvation and in the name of our God we will set up our banners” (Psalm 20:5). During the Israelites' desert wandering, banners identified different tribes, as described in Numbers 2:2.
Nowadays, processional banners are used in religious ceremonies and processions. They symbolise devotion, unity, and the event's theme. Clergy or laity carry them during liturgical celebrations, feast days, or special occasions: Corpus Christi, Palm Sunday, or parish festivals.
Processional banners
Throughout church history, the standards have evolved. Medieval churches displayed heraldic shields showing noble support, a tradition that later transformed into flags and banners during the Reformation period.
The standard banners feature images of saints, Biblical scenes, crosses, Eucharistic motifs or national colours. They were used during the times of the Early Church to mark discreetly Christian meeting places during times of persecution. Today, processional banners remain in Catholic and Anglican liturgies, emphasising the Church as a “pilgrim people” journeying toward God.
Our standard banners use high-quality fabrics in all church colours. The embroidery includes metallic threads that catch the light during processions. We add tassels and fringes along the edges for a traditional look.
Standard Banners
Standard banners are versatile decorations used in churches for identifying groups (e.g., confraternities, guilds) or marking specific areas. They may also serve as permanent displays near altars.
We make quality banners using fabrics in liturgical colours and metallic thread embroidery that catches light during processions. For decoration purposes, they feature traditional tassels and fringes along the edges.
Funeral Banners
Funeral banners honour the deceased during the funeral ceremony. They feature photographs, names, dates of birth and death, religious symbols or epitaphs. Their purpose is to comfort grieving families.
Our funeral banners create a dignified atmosphere during Christian burial ceremonies and memorial services. They are made of plain-coloured material and feature high-quality embroidery on the front and back panels. The cross or the Chi-Rho (Alpha and Omega) speak to Christian hope in resurrection. Decorative gold fringes along the top and bottom edges add a touch of reverence appropriate for funeral ceremonies.
